Animal Forest Diary Jun-06-2002

Tanuki was closed yesterday upgrading his store again since I’d paid of my previous loan the day before.

You know, there is something about that Tanuki… I just can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s that he’s a bell hungry #$%$^$^. Yeah, that’s it!

Anyway, the store was open today. Gee, now he’s got shopping carts and baskets. There is also three longer aisles for junk. New basic items include paint for my house, signs for placing patterns on, and a diary book. There are also different plants for planting, ten pipers piping… nevermind.

Tanuki also had stored some new furniture. I’ve been looking for something to place all my NES games and bonsai plants on since my dinner table was full. There happened to be a trunk on sale, I bought it for 1800 bell. Not cheap for an item that can only have two items on top and does not store items inside… grrr. Of course I didn’t learn that until AFTER I’d bought it.

Leaving Tanuki’s I decided to check my mail. Just one fossil from the Owl today and my standard HRA letter. Did that new bonsai plant boost my rating much? Nope, new rating is 8390. Ah well, maybe that trunk will help.

After checking out the fossil, I’d discovered that I’ve already turned that one in. Sold… 1200 bell.

Not in the mood today for some reason, I guess I’m just depressed about my 398000 bell loan in which I currently owe every last bell on it…

Tomorrow brings another day.

June 3rd

Today I had made up my mind to completely pay off my second home loan today. I was about 48000 bell short, with only about 10000 bell in my pocket. I decided the fastest way to make up the difference was through ocean fishing. Ocean fishing you ask? Yes, there are two species of ocean fish that are worth a lot of bell each. The “Red Snapper” as I like to call it worth 3000 bell and the “Zerba” worth 5000 bell.

Now, fishing on the ocean is a little tricky. Normally the fish swim close enough to the beach that any fast or loud movement will force them to retreat to the ocean floor. Another problem is that since there is a stream running out to sea, you can’t walk the entire beach without having to move around the stream… ugh!

Anyway, I was able to quickly catch enough “money” fish to pay off the rest of my loan! I was quite happy being debt free again! Nothing feels better than not owing a soul… just wish that was the case in erm… “real” life

Later that day I visited Tanuki’s store and he asked me if I’d like to have my house upgraded and painted. Not thinking clearly, I said yes, please upgrade my house and please paint it red. Not completely realizing what I had just done, I left the store with less than 800 bell to my name.

June 4th

Rain started to fall again today… it’s June in the forest… why is it raining so much still?! Bah, just means I need to tote around my umbrella so I don’t catch cold.

Much to my surprise I appeared to have left a LARGER house today! Oh my! The outside of my house is now really starting to appear more non-square like. The roof is in two sections and there is now an overhang covering my head from the rain at the front door! Inside there isn’t anything unique yet, just more room for stuff! Not really thinking about how much this new beauty would cost me, I headed off to read my mail and run some errands.

I received my dialy dose of three fossils, all of which I have already donated. I also received my dialy Hyper Room Academy (HRA) mail. To my surprise my rating had jumped up to 8339! Alright!

I glanced over at my pocket book and saw the sad site, 718 bell… ouch! Well, guess I should sell those fossils and that terrible fish platter that the Mayor gave me sometime ago. Why was I still hauling that ugly and smelly thing around?!

Tanuki was unusually happy to see me. Hmm… strange. What you cooking Tanuki? Ah yes, my new home, it’s great! I love the red roof, what’s that you say? I owe you some bell for that? Sure, not a problem, I should have that paid off in… what?!? 398000 bell?! Are you kidding me? *falls down* After I awoke, Tanuki informed me that I could pay the Post Office weekly as usual. Uh, right… I’ll get right on that, boss. Shaken, but not stirred, I sold my fossils and extra items which netted me about 6000 bell. Yeah… still poor Determined not to let my new loan get me down, I purchased a new bonsai plant that Tanuki had in stock for the first time. I was had for 1500 bell… maybe this will boost my HRA rating, they seemed to really like my first bonsai plant. Plus I just wanted to get another lottery ticket for the end of the month drawing. So far I’ve got three… I’d like to have 30 by the end of June which would equal 6 chances to play. (Dreams of NES carts)

Leaving the store with empty pockets and a broken ego, I headed off to the dump to collect everyone’s trash. Uh… garbage man? Do you not work on rainy days? There were 5 pieces of trash mixed with the normal items today… Man, Leia must be busy fishing out boots and cans…. LOL! Anyway, I netted an ugly outfit and more writing paper.

You can never have enough writing paper I always say. No really… uh huh. 398k… Hopefully I can win a spot on the AF Millionaire show

The fishing derby was today… I had high hopes for it this time. I’d really like to win some more… uh… playable items perhaps? I think we all know what those are.

I started out with the first 6 fish not being exactly what Uomako, the fishing derby master beaver, was looking for. Of course, I dont’ understand why, he eats the “wrong” fish anyway? And I get nothing for that? What kind of operation is this anyway… no bother, back to fishing.

So, I’m looking for a fish larger than at least 32cm and of a certain type. Uomako only wants a certain type of fish as the “prize” fish. Fine, fine… I’ll get your darn fish beaver.

As I approach the river bank I find a large shadow… that looks like a good one! I drop my line right in front of his nose and BOOM, without warning or even a nibble he grabs the hook. Two beers aside, I grab for the handle and yank back, I caught ‘em!

Proud of my large catch, I promptly returned to Uomako for my prize. Uomako took one look at the fish and was surprised at it’s size… 59cm! I’d got the top fish so far today! Woohoo! Uomako ate the fish, stating that it was rather tasty, and turned towards his handy fishing derby cart to retrieve my prize. As he turned around I could see that it was a… lousy OUTFIT! OH MY! NO NO NO NO NO! I DO NOT LIKE OUTFITS, I DO NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL!

Well… before I put it on I’d hoped that it may be that Gamecube outfit that the cooler animals have been sporting lately… of course, much to my dismay it was not. Utterly ticked off at the beaver, I returned home, refusing to participate in a “fishing derby” where a beaver eats all the fish and the winner gets a lousy outfit.

As I returned home, I checked my mail, forgetting to earlier in the day in order to caught the first fish… I found that my Hyper Room Academy rating had sky rocketed to 7422. Hmm… maybe they liked my new bonsai plant? No matter, I went inside and took a much needed nap. Darn beaver…

Today was a lazy day for Mog in Endor Village. I didn’t feel like helping anyone today, only interested in selling my items that I had obtained the day before. Of course, the store was closed for normal business yesterday since it was the end of the month lottery. Oh, did I mention that I had two lottery tickets? Hoping that I could get some more NES games, I decided to purchase junk from the store and just resell it or give it to Leia. Well, I was very disappointed to only win a bonsai plant from the lottery. Didn’t matter, no NES games were shown as prizes… maybe next month.

So, I finally was able to sell all my junk I’d collected from the day before. Not much else was going on in the village so I decided I’d come back later in the evening. Much to my surpise that evening when I returned there were fireflys everywhere! I hadn’t seen fireflys before… I promptly grabbed my net and caught as many as I could carry.

After I lined my pockets with fireflys, I headed off to the store to sell them. Much to my displeasure the fireflys are only worth 250 bell each! What the?!? OH WELL… I sold all but one, donating the last one to the museum.

Sigh… at least my Hyper Room Academy rating is still well above 5000 at 5821. Hopefully I can get back to my high of 6342.

Animal Forest starts here

I’ve been playing Animal Forest + for awhile now on Japanese Gamecube. I felt that in order to truly experience everything this game has to offer, you need to share that experience with other people.

So far I’ve found only one web site on the internet related to AF.

I’ve decided to start an Animal Forest community web site. What does a community web site mean exactly? Well, similar to AF, everyone that comes to visit the web site can be involved in it’s growth! This web site will always remain free from ads and other annoying pop-ups. The message board was hand written by myself and has been in development for over 4 years.

In the near future there will be a lot of game related information under the “GAME” heading in the menu. I’ll also post updates about the game, interesting tidbits, current auctions for AF stuff around the internet, etc.

The message board is where a lot of the action will happen within the community. Players can chat about their own progress within the game, ask for help, receive codes for special items for the AF cards, and post their own web diaries for sharing.

I hope you enjoy this new web site for the incredible game Animal Forest!
