Rain, rain go away, come again other day… it’s been raining here in Traverse for the last two days and the bug hunting has virtually stopped because of it.
Tom Nook has finally completed his first upgrade on the store. Upon visiting I was reminded that I own him 49,800 bells from my new “trash” basement. That’s fine, basements are great for storing crap when, uh, your store isn’t open!!! ‘Nookie is finally selling fishing poles and axes. Time to start cutting down those trees and plant the fruit I received from travelling. However, I was able to get two out of four pear trees to grow successfully without having to dig up a stump… weird huh?
After MANY attempts at sending thoughtful, kind, and fabulously awesome letters to animals, they actually sent me presents! Yes, presents! How you ask? Quite simply really. They seemed to like… “Hi! How are you? What did you do today?” So, be sure to send lots of letters if your looking for new items for your house.

Star date… oops.
It’s been 5 days or so since I started this journey in Traverse village. So far I’ve gotten my first upgrade on my house, still waiting for Tom Nook to upgrade the darn store… man, must I spend so much money there or what?!?
I’m doing a lot of communicating with the other animals this time around. It was far more difficult when I was in Japan, as I could hardly understand what they were saying. I mean, just today I traded Tiara an oid for green desk and then not 5 minutes later I traded Rocco that same green desk for an exotic desk. I would have never been able to carry out that trade while visiting Japan! Sending mail to the animals is also getting to be more fun, I just hope they start to respond with presents. I’m not going to go out of my way to send them pleasant gifts if I’m not going to get anything in return. I mean, really, is that only fair to ask for something in return? Whoever said that giving was better than receiving? Bleh!
I’ve also been planting an orchard of pear trees that I got while visiting a friends town, Atlantis. Traverse has the native apple tree. I was also successful in trading some an apple for an orange, so soon I will also have oranges!
A few of my neighbors moved out during my last visit to Atlantis, now Traverse is down to only 6 animals. I guess I’ve only been in town a few days, doesn’t matter to much yet.
Oh yes! K.K. sent me a present today, a golden radio! Most excellent I must say! Far far better than the cheap radio that Nook gave me, that cheap sob. At least K.K. has got some style, knows what is needed to play those groovy tunes.
In other news, I successfully completed two treasure hunts, finding a black queen chest piece and a green dresser. Oh goody… maybe Rocco will want that dresser since he seems to like green furniture.
Well, Nook is now closed and I’ll getting a little sleepy… ta ta for now!

“Welcome to Traverse, Sora! Even though you have visited numerous Japanese villages, you still have to START OVER!”
Ugh! Oh well… I knew this time would come… when I finally had to start over again to play the US version.
So, I started my journey on Friday, September 20th. I entered Traverse Village with new hope, hoping to find that perfect house.
Tom Nook, the resident greedy sob, greeted me at the train station. “Hey Sora, come see your new hovel!”… So, as I went inside each “house”, I wondered, will I ever find that perfect house? Will I ever see my 2 story Japanese house again?
Of course, not right now I sure won’t! Disgusted, I opted for a hovel with a green roof in the bottom right corner of the housing district. Tom then strong armed me to pay 18,000+ bells for this dump. Of course, coming of the train from Japan, I didn’t have much cash left so now I have to work as a slave for Tom for awhile.
… my last “job” chore was posting a note on the town bulletin board, so I quote, “Shop at the shop”. If only Tom could really read, he’d probably dock my pay even more for that lame advertisement.
Either way, I’m no longer working for that clown, now I’m off on my own… with a rather large debt of 17,400 bells and no way to pay it off.
Tune in next time for how Sora paid of his debt and then got a new one! The joys of Animal Crossing!
