proud to be an American

I made SF Gate’s War Blog for March 27th (scroll down towards the bottom) with my solo *support our troops* protest on March 26th. Rock on!

pro-U.S.A. rallies

Syndicated radio host Glenn Beck is “organizing pro-U.S. rallies”:http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/03/27/rallies.foramerica.ap/index.html which includes former Iraqi citizen, Salman Afsharpour:

Salman Afsharpour, 54, who was born and raised in Iraq, moved to the United States in 1977 and attended a rally in Atlanta, said he supports American military action against his homeland.

“Those who talk about peace and don’t support war don’t know what they’re talking about. They don’t know the atrocities Saddam has committed,” said Afsharpour, who was holding a sign that read, “Give War a Chance. Support President Bush.

Glad to hear that CNN is covering the pro-U.S. movement as well. ‘Bout damn time.

doing my part

*U.S.A.* - San Francisco during the lunch rush hour.

*Update:* So, after a day of displaying my American pride and support for our service men and women, I plan on showing that support every day until the war ends or the anti-war protesters stop. We all know which will happen first.

Little news about some fun I had with some “bicycle” protesters today. After I started walking towards the mass transit I use to go home, some protesters noticed my rather *large* sign and started shouting at me with their little signs. Of course, I shouted back :) I then stood on top of a large granite wall and sang the Star Spangled Banner. The protesters weren’t thrilled. They started mocking me, calling me an idiot, telling me I don’t understand, and that I should “convert” to their cause. All the while, a large group of police officers were standing nearby laughing at the protesters trying to harass me. I just sang louder and louder!

What made me very happy was that people all over the city supported me and the U.S. People cheered, nodded their approval, gave me a thumbs up, shouted “Thank you!”, and someone even gave me a nice sticker that reads “September 11, 2001 or did we forget already? Support our troops.”. I promptly placed it on my sign. Thank you all for supporting America!

And yes, I did make at least two local news broadcasts. I’ll be receiving the tape footage soon.

See you next time!

and you’re telling me iraq isn’t involved

U.S. Marines searching Iraqi military headquarters in Nasiriya “discovered a mural”:http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/03/26/sprj.irq.mural/index.html depicting a plane crashing into the World Trade Center.

Unbelievable.

Zelda is back

Today, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for Nintendo Gamecube arrived! Sweet! I’ve be waiting for this moment for some time now.

pirateship_launch.jpg

The Japanese version has been available for quite awhile and since I do own a Japanese Gamecube I was very tempted to buy the import version. I’m glad I waited though because now I can completely enjoy the game in a language I can actually read, plus I also get to play with my daughter, who can read too!

Zelda is one of those franchises that is timeless. I played the original ” The Legend of Zelda”:http://www.zelda.com/universe/info_z1.html for 8-bit Nintendo back in 8th grade. I use to go over to my friends house after school and bug him to let me play (at the time I didn’t own a Nintendo). Finally, a few years later, after the second game was released, The Adventure of Link, I was able to play on my own Nintendo. Since then there has been a total of 9 American released Zelda games (1 extra one in Japan), all of which are awesome in their own right.

The technology of the Zelda games has changed over time, although Shigeru Miyamoto, director of previous Zelda games, always knows when gameplay is more information than graphical superiority. His philosophy on game design turned the newest Zelda from becoming a graphical beast, coated in gorgeous, realistic graphics, while endangering the main reason why I love his creations; gameplay.

I’ll take great gameplay over great graphics any day. I play games to escape reality, not play in it.

protesting for dollars

The cost of protesting is cash strapping S.F. but do the protesters care? Shouldn’t they be supporting the causes in which the costs of $900,000 daily would normally be going to feed the homeless? Nah, they’re self absorbed, attention needy, hypocrites.
