“Nick Bradbury”:http://nick.typepad.com/ of Topstyle and Homesite fame, both wonderful applications I miss in the Mac OS X world, has created “FreeDemon”:http://www.bradsoft.com/feeddemon/index.asp, a RSS reader for Windows. Why do I care? Well, I do have to suffer through using Windows at work and what better way to do that than with a Bradbury Software app. I still use both Topstyle and Homesite at work everyday
I must say, FeedDemon is freaking awesome! Nick, you’ve done it again. This is the most elegant RSS reader I’ve seen on Windows, period. Can I have a Mac OS X version please (He’s “already stated no”:http://nick.typepad.com/faq/2003/week37/index.html#a0000274024)?
In order RSS news, I’ve updated the feeds to 1) validate correctly and 2) provide full posts for RSS reader users. The “RSS excerpts feed”:http://www.snapturtle.com/index.rdf and the “RSS 2.0 full posts”:http://www.snapturtle.com/index.xml feeds are available now. I may look into providing posts+comments feeds and the like, but I’ll need to work on those some more.
One thing that was really driving me crazy was the “feed validator”:http://www.feedvalidator.org/ was giving me grief about using relative URLs in my feed. In order to have a “validate” RSS feed I had to change them to non-relative links. What sucks about this is if I ever move to a different domain all my links will be broken within the blog. I understand the logic behind needing a complete path for the RSS feed, but there must be some way to provide the path for just the feed.
