Eggcellent Fun

In the world of Vana’diel the Moogles’ are celebrating Easter a little early this year. Located at each main gate in the home ports of Bastok, San d’Oria, and Windurst, each resident Moogle will give you a special letter initial egg as part of the “Egg Hunt Egg-stravaganza”:http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news1727.shtml.

As you can see this has created quite the stir among the local residents. At any one time there are several mobs of travellers attempting to get new eggs from the Moogle or sell their eggtras to other collectors.

What do you with the eggs one might ask. As with every egg hunt, you must collect enough initial eggs in order to trade back with the Moogle to get a special item or egg. The special items vary depending on luck and how many eggs you trade at one time. The Moogle will only give you one initial egg per game day, although you can get more eggs from other players or by trading in 12 bird eggs to the Moogle.

These are the special items I’ve heard of or seen so far:

* Extra Initial Egg (Trade in “12 bird eggs”:http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=1256. Can be done once per game day.)
* Chocobo Tickets (Random – Trade in the first three initials of your player name)
* Stat Boosting Candy/Drop (Random – Trade in the first three initials of your player name. Stat gain is temporary)
* “Happy Egg”:http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=4705 (Trade in 8 alphabetic eggs starting with your player name first initial. Stat gain is permanent when equipped. HP +1% VIT +1)
* “Lucky Egg”:http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=3002 (Trade in 7/8 initial eggs of the same letter. Stat gain is permanent when equipped. MP +1% VIT +1)

I think it’s very cool of “Square-Enix”:http://www.squaresoft.com/ to take the time and implement something like this into the game to keep it fresh and exciting. Just another reason why I enjoy this game so much, it’s ever evolving.

But alas, as with any time based event this one ends on April 13th, 2004 at 0:00 (PDT). Better get those eggs and get cracking, err, no… that would be a bad idea.
