Ugh… I told myself many times over the last several months that a PSP was not in my future. Whenever I came across a newsbit about the PSP I’d tell myself I don’t need one or I already have enough portable gaming devices. Heck, I’d go so far as to list out all the things that are wrong with the PSP and then attempt to completely ignore all the upsides. Even with all this negative energy I was trying to con myself into believing, I broke down and bought one anyway. (/kick self)
Honestly, I’m not disappointed. Lumines is one fantastic puzzle game, very addicting and highly entertaining at the same time. I dig the fact that it can display photos, play music, and play videos; if only I could actually find a damn 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card somewhere I’d be all set. What in the hell is going on with the shortage in that department?
WipeOut Pure has a built-in web browser and there is now a widely publicized hack to allow you to actually use it for light web browsing via WiFi.
PSPWare seems to be the best sync software for Mac right now. Not bad at converting movies to PSP format either. Been having some issues getting widescreen movies to play from ffmpegX because the default 320×240 setting is not ideal. Any tips out there?
The Logitech PlayGear Pocket is looking like a good, inexpensive, small durable case for the PSP although it hasn’t shipped yet.
So far I’m really liking what the PSP community has done with the device in only a few days. Great sync software, the browser hack, and just all the excitement for the future. Hopefully we’ll start seeing some homebrew apps soon as well.

Yeah, I’m totally weak when gaming is involved. (OMG… It owns)

I haven’t been playing my Nintendo DS much of late either Erik. With the latest announcements coming out of the GDC; online play via hotspots, Animal Crossing online, etc; I’m really looking forward to later this year though. As long as Nintendo can deliver this to market sooner rather than later I may actually care. Otherwise the machine is going to collect dust like my Virtual Boy.
I’m trying really really hard not to pick up a PSP right now too; I don’t play that many mobile games and when I do I’d like to be able to play for more than 2 hours at a pop. Overall I don’t really see much value in playing the same exact game from the Playstation 2 on a handheld device. I know this may sound crazy, but I’m more into the original type titles not yet other version of Ridge Racer, Tiger Woods, or Madden.
I’m not feeling “burned” by Nintendo yet as Erik put it but I do think they’ve failed to deliver the key Nintendo strategy with the DS, fun original games.

Can’t believe I missed this the first time around but “Midway is releasing a 3rd edition”:http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=928f919f-2aa7-42c3-940c-e9192b8b17ec&page=currentNews in their Midway Arcade Treasures series. Why should I care? Well the first two included one of my all time favorite racing games in the form of “Super Sprint”:http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9952&letter=S and “Championship Sprint”:http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7312&letter=C.
Midway Arcade Treasures 3 is going to include yet another excellent racing classic, “Super Off Road”:http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=I&game_id=12843! And not only that, they’ll be including the bonus track pack for more racing fun. Problem is the game won’t be available until Fall ‘05
As a young lad these two games where my vice. Anytime I’d be near one of these machines be it at a mini-golf course or the local pizza parlor I was more interested in bumming coinage than putting and eating. I haven’t played much Super Sprint lately as both my wife and Autumn seem to have control issues
It is a lot different playing with a Gamecube controller than the arcade steering wheel but no freaking way I’m buying them wheels just so their cars don’t explode into the walls. It’s all just part of the game, right?

Gah fine. Instead of playing “Brothers in Arms”:http://www.brothersinarmsgame.com/ on my new fucking Xbox (don’t ask) or watching “must see t.v.” with my wife, I sat here and figured out how to fix all my borked links.
I’d been looking through numerous blogs and etcetera for the last couple of days but nothing was working correctly. I finally found “someone out in the blog-o-sphere”:http://www.ficml.org/jemimap/wordpress/2004/05/17/redirects-and-rewrites/ that had the same problem last year. Thank you miss wearer of yellow shirts, the links are now unborked.
I’m sure I didn’t fix them all nor did I really intend to right now. I figured I caught the 80-20 rule which is good enough for now. Still working on linking up the photo gallery (permissions will be required), photo blog, and whatever else I had that was lame.
Yeah, so I’m back in the saddle. Or somewhat closer than say 3 months ago. Life is an interesting journey and I must admit that I missed some of the ride last year. Stupid game.
