Update: Download the 2.0 firmware from Sony.
Sony has posted a message on their official U.S. Playstation boards, stating that the Sony 2.0 PSP update will not be available until the week of August 15th. So for everyone hitting Snapturtle today for the update, sorry fellas. Try again on Monday.

Sony needs to get its act together. I live in new york and most of my friends already traded their PSP for a down payment on the xbox360. Just like sega and nintendo they to could fail if they don’t give us what we want. I’m not sure if I would purchase the PS3 which is going to be expensive if they don’t start to produce some games for the PSP. Also release the 2.0 update already It’s getting real tiring on how you treat us americans.
I’m not going to say anything bad about Sony bc they actually let you play online for free…they could be dick heads like xbox and charge us to play.
Man this ish is wack. Sony always does the customer wrong when it releases something new. first its faulty ps1′s and 2′s, now its not ever going to give us this update, and next its the stupid ass blu-ray crap. Man just leave ish alone and take care of the ones constantly paying more scrilla.

It’s not about the waiting it’s the no respect sony shows america. First the ps1 had alot of glitches then the ps2 broke down so much I purchase 3 just to enjoy the games. Then they release the psp here in america with hardly any games but alot of movies like thats going to make up for the games. Now they don’t release the upddate 2.0. They treat us like we are dumb and if anybody don’t see that, than I guess they are right. But I tell you one thing if the xbox360 survives in japan Sony is finish in the console war they may have put nintendo and sega out but Bill Gates is a very smart man and he wont go down with out a fight.
i guess there are a lot of issues that sony needs to clear up but at this moment this problem we people are dealing with is the UPDATE!!! WHEN CAN WE GET IT
I agree Sony does need to release the update lets hope its not at midnight because it would be exactly one week with no explanation from them.
i hope they’re not releasing it when the europe psp’s are coming out…i heard a rumor that they were gonna do that…and while i was in a chat on twisted metal head on people said that update is this weekend
If it is then its another lie sony pulled off. Because they had in their forum that it will be release the week of aug 15. How much longer should we be understanding. Before we realize that sony don’t give crap of what we think.
i just wish they would stick to a plan instead of throwing around broad information, the more they wait the more stuff that needs an explanation.
Wel it’s now 5:00AM EST here in the US. If they released it today, it would still be a slap in the face to all the consumers who’ve been imaptiently clicking th refresh button every 15 minutes in anticipation of the new v2.0 update. Today marks the 1 week late point from the August 12th delay. Will we find ourselves checking endlessly for it again? 6AM? 9AM? 12PM, 3PM, 6PM and on? Jesus, this is like watch “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”… where the gret pumpkin never comes.
PSP sales have already been slumping in the us due to the price point, game selection, and high-priced UMD movies. How does it make sense to pay $25 UMD for Spiderman when a regular DVD is $17.99?
If the update isn’t deliverd by 9PM tonight, it’s over. I’m taking my unit & 2 games back, and I’ll condsider buyingone next year when they’re white and a have a llthe bugs worked out.

I’ve been saying it for a while Sony just don’t care. It has been a week like we all know and they think we should believe that they are giving us a better version. Thats not the case. They most likely are trying to find every way possible to stop the emulation and homebrew games. I don’t blame them for that thought but anybody who upgrades already know that they can’t play those things on the 2.0 firmware. So they need to stop the bull**** and release it already because it was the japanese system that really started that not ours. Just like other people i’m ready to buy a DS instead and Trade the PSP to add to my xbox360 investment.
Yeah, i agree with all of you. I think i’m going to take mine back as well. They promised us the WEEK of the 15th. And so I wasn’t that upset when it never came out on the fifteenth but it is now the 23rd and the update still isn’t out. They have warned us not to download the japanese update because it’ll void or warranty but we don’t have a choice. They’re pushing us in that direction and the fact that we have to download emulators and roms to make the system more fun to play with is an embarrassment to sony. It’s saying we’d rather play nintendo than the boring games you’re offering us. They know this and are tryign to stop it by stopping the hacks and maybe thats why this is taking so long to come out but no matter what kind of security they put on it, the security can always be broken. I’m waiting a couple of more days and if they do not come out with it i’m returning my system and my games and investing in xbox360.

then when the US upgrade comes out upgrade again. Sony obviously is making revisions so that we will not have the minor flaws that the jap update has. remember we got our psp’s in march so we are lucky that we are gonna get it this soon anyways.

I agree. I’ve updated using the Jap update. So it invalidates my warranty, So what! You should not be moaning, I’m in the U.K and the PSP has still not been realesed. You’ve had it for six months. I don’t understand people who moan that they want the update now but won’t download the Jap version!! Just shut up moaning and DL it! Then when V2.1 or 2.5 or even V3.0 comes out you can use the correct version.
