The reason it can work so well in Europe is due to how they broadcast TV over there.
They would need to add a lot to it to make it work here. To work with cable cards, set top boxes, they would also have to set up a program guide system since here all that info is not broadcasted over the air with the video signal like it is there.

All in all, America with it’s love of thousands of competing standards will hurt the chanced of this coming to the states.
Yeah, too good to be true. TV sucks in America, won’t argue with that.
